Directions
Saunter down the village street keeping the church on your right. You will pass the turning to the pub on your left and shortly come to a T-junction. Turn right (west) and proceed along ‘Thixen Dale’ towards Fotherdale.
Climb up the hill past Fotherdale Farm, currently home to wildlife artist Robert E. Fuller and on up to the top near North and South Breckholme farms. Continue past Painsthorpe Wold Farm, turning right at the junction.
On a clear day, there are striking views down to Kirby Underdale and into the Vale of York. York and the Minster can often be seen clearly in the far distance.
Pass the turning for Uncleby, and take the next right, signed Thixendale 2 miles.
Pass through the cool shade of Martinholme farm… and descend gradually at first, back into Thixendale, opposite the Old Post Office.
