Manor Farm, built in 1843, is a mixed working farm which sits peacefully in its own surroundings at the west end of the village of Thixendale, a quiet unspoilt isolated Wolds village.
Guests can enjoy the unique opportunity to stay in a large private section of the farmhouse. From the kitchen a wooden staircase leads up to a very large room that once housed up to twelve farm workers, and now serves as a spacious sitting room overlooking the gardens, with twin beds at one end, and a bathroom/toilet at the other end. A little Victorian fireplace adds a romantic touch. This room leads into a delightfully large double bedroom, with old pine furniture, and patchwork quilts.
The accommodation is ideal for a family or friends, and can accommodate up to six people.
Substantial meals are eaten in the kitchen around the old pine table, and served at a time of the guests choice. The kitchen retains its character, with the original stone flags on the floor, and numerous hooks in the ceiling, where home cured hams and bacon hang from, and the aga adds warmth, as well as cooking in the traditional way.
Manor Farm is an ideal base for walking, cycling or touring. We are near so many places; York (17 miles), Castle Howard, Malton (10 miles), Sledmere House, Pickering and the beautiful Moors plus of course the coast. A perfect setting for a memorable holiday.
